I’m finally catching up!! I’ve been so behind ever since getting back from our trip.
Ben worked on the morning of Christmas Eve, and then we headed up to my parents’ house that afternoon. We read scriptures from Luke 2, then it was time to open gifts. Eli was cute with his Santa hat on at the beginning:
The kids also had fun playing with all of the wooden toys my parents have out each year at Christmas time:
My dad gave candles to each person:
Even Charlie:
We had fun with the presents. Here’s Gram opening the down blanket we gave to her:
Here’s Eli hiding in a big gift bag:
Part of the boys’ presents from my parents were these soft, beautiful Christmas quilts that my mom made.
Charlie loved the soft texture, as shown in this video:
My mom also knit this hat that Eli’s trying on (sorry it’s a little blurry):
Here’s my mom reading a book to Eli – he thought it was HILARIOUS (see video below):
And Charlie had fun sitting with Gram as she bounced him and recited “Trot Trot to Boston” (see video below):
Here’s our living room after Santa filled stockings and left some presents:
We have two stockings for each person (well, except for Charlie because his second one is coming on his birthday) – Ben’s Grandma, Frankie Severson knits each child a stocking, and my mom has sewn stockings for us too.
Our tree was so close to tipping over and so dead by Christmas. Poor tree!
Here’s Eli when we went in to his room on Christmas morning:
Walking down the stairs, about to see the Christmas stuff:
Looking in the stockings:
Charlie had fun with the wrapping paper – and didn’t end up opening all of his gifts! We’re saving the rest for his birthday in a few weeks.
Eli had asked Santa for a James train as well as Harold the Helicopter – both were in his stocking! He was so excited. Especially because James is battery operated, so it pulls the trains around the track. I loved his enthusiasm for them!
We opened gifts, finished packing for our trip, and left for the airport at noon. It was a little crazy, but so nice to have Christmas morning in our own house before traveling. We took a cab to the airport, and Harij is my most favorite taxi driver ever – let me know if you want his name/number. He was SO nice and the cab was spotless. When we arrived at the Oakland Airport and Ben’s dad was there to meet us, Eli said as we walked outside, “Where’s our taxi?” That made me laugh.

I like when they have a little head crash and Eli says bonkers. We say that too. That's cute you had to wake him up...or it just looks like he barely woke up. Fun xmas morning and a nice cabbie...that makes it even better.
love the boys' sweaters and eli's red pajamas. babygap?
