Gram and her friend Mary Ann stopped by for a visit last week. Here’s Gram singing some of her favorite songs with Eli:
After some songs and snacks, Charlie woke up from his nap and we all walked over to the Bahai Temple to see the pretty gardens.
Mary Ann is Gram’s very wonderful friend from her Wichita days. Mary Ann now lives in Canada, but flew down to be with Gram while my parents went out of town.
[Side note – my parents are in Portugal for the week – it’s a long story, but they have been planning this trip for years now and it seems the third time’s the charm because they actually made it out there. My parents mentioned on the phone a few nights ago that they feel like they keep seeing lookalikes of Ben’s family (his grandma is Portuguese).]
Anyway, Gram started her radiation and chemo treatments today. We’re grateful Mary Ann is here to help Gram as she starts this tough process – Mary Ann will be in town until my parents get back at the end of this week. Please keep Gram in your prayers – it’s not going to be a fun or easy couple of months. I think she’s the bravest 85-year-old I know.
Here are some pictures from the gardens (I actually took these earlier in the day, but thought they were so beautiful that it would be fun to bring Gram and Mary Ann over to see them in person).
