Sweet Moments at Home

Yesterday Eli was playing so sweetly with his friends, Bob the Sheep and Dog Dog, all on his sheep rug. I said to Eli, "You're so cute! Can I take your picture?"

He smiled, then nodded his head and said, "Yeah" in his little voice. That is my favorite thing that he started this week - nodding and saying "yeah" when I ask him a question - like, "Do you want to read this book?" or "Do you want a cracker?" His "yeah" answer is almost always accompanied with a sweet, pleased smile.

Eli loves both of these stuffed animals dearly.
It's fun watching him snuggle with them at the same time.
His current tally of animals that he sleeps with - his frog and puppy snugglies, Dog Dog, Cat, and his blue blanket. So far, Bob the Sheep stays downstairs with the sheep rug. When Eli wakes up in the morning, he always wants to bring Dog Dog with him downstairs, but then he places him on the kitchen counter while he eats breakfast. I'm all for keeping his prized possession as clean as possible.
Eli loves reading and talking about animals too. Animals like dogs and ducks are said in the double form (Dog Dog, Duck Duck), and other animals he identifies just by their noise. I point to a cow, and he says "mooooooooo." Pig gets a sort of muddled "oink" and a sheep gets "aaahh" - leaving off the "b" sound at the beginning.

After his nap yesterday, he woke up still sleepy and sad, so we read some books to cheer up a little. Reading a few books turned into reading about half of the books on his three shelves. I love when he picks out a book and then plops down in my lap to read together!

Boy in Blue

I snapped some pictures of Eli early this morning as we were playing with his toys. Last night he slept in this blue onesie because it was once again oh-so-humid... someday I vow to live in a place with central air conditioning! Thankfully it's cooled off some after a big rain this afternoon and we're all more comfortable.

In our effort to de-clutter, we cleaned out the items in the cabinet that serves as our entertainment center, and now we can throw most of Eli's toys in there. It's great, except for when Eli decides to pull everything out... :)

Eli really loves Bob the sheep. Bob is hard to clean, however, so he doesn't sleep with him. Instead, he gives the sheep loves multiple times a day when he is playing with toys.

Pictures above and below show Eli playing with an empty milk jug that he found in the kitchen, waiting to go out to the recycling bin. He tried hiding the jug behind the Leapfrog table without much success, so he opted to just carry it around our condo instead.

Ben and I love watching Eli walk - he kind of waddles side to side with very heavy feet. If he weighed more, I bet his steps would be pretty loud. I'll try to get a video clip sometime soon to capture this cuteness! Seeing these pictures of our boy in blue makes me want to reach over and squeeze those chubby legs of his... :)
