Eli’s “preschool” is run by a Montessori early childhood teacher (a friend from church) who does this class on her days off. It’s perfect for us – much more low key (and cheaper), but she organizes her class in the same way that she does at the school. My friend Rebekeh is her assistant and Eli couldn’t be happier. I’ve noticed that he has become much more independent in the last month or so – now he takes his shoes off by himself, puts his coat on/takes it off by himself, and walks up and down the stairs with more confidence (we’ve come a long way with that – he used to freak out if I didn’t hold his hand).
The parents were invited to the Halloween party at the end of preschool on Thursday. It was fun watching the kids have their snacks.
Charlie even got to munch on some apples – I thought this was a funny picture of him:
After snack, the kids got to decorate cookies, which is a messy job for little ones :) Ava was so cute with frosting and sprinkles on her face. Eli chose to dip his cookie in the frosting, rather than take the time to spread it on.
Afterwards, taking a class picture outside (this has the addition of Taylor in the pink, who is a younger sibling, and our teacher’s son, the pirate – both aren’t usually there for the class). It’s nice that the class is just six kids!
Here’s pretty Evelyn, who was dressed up as Cinderella:
The kids had their costume parade, up and down the sidewalk -
After the parade, Eli ran up to Evelyn, grabbed her hands, and started dancing with her, totally spontaneously. It was very sweet!
I love the festive Halloween porch decorations:
The kids were VERY excited after school and were running all over the place:
But by the end, both of my kids were pretty tired (just in time to head out to the Morton Arboretum, shown in the post below. :) Of course neither child fell asleep on the hour drive out there…
