Ben’s parents were visiting last weekend, so we took them to North western's Wildcat Alley, the pregame area where there are lots of free games and activities for families before they head to the football game. This week there was even a big fire truck for the kids to climb on – the highlight for Charlie of course.
Though I think the highlight for the boys was each getting a balloon from this balloon guy -
Eli was happy to be sporting his purple Northwestern t-shirt, along with this funny hat that he picked up that day.
He looks like he could take your order at Stake ‘n Shake :)
We waited a long time for their turn with the balloon guy. Ben even stood in line by himself for a little while so we could take the boys and return when he was closer to the front of the line.
It was worth the wait. Eli asked for a snake balloon. The balloon guy was hilarious and really great with him.
He let Eli help him pump the balloon up -
Charlie asked for a doggie balloon – I think this totally made his day. He kept saying, “Doggie! Doggie” after he got the balloon.
The finished products -
We picked up one free football game ticket while we were at Wildcat Alley and then Ben picked up a few more tickets at a discounted price after the game started, so he, Eli, Larry and Cheryl went over to the stadium that afternoon and watched the game, while I stayed home with Charlie to take a nap. Later that evening, we ate at Pizano’s Pizza in Glenview (delicious!) and checked out Wagner Farm’s big bonfire/storytelling evening. The bonfire was ENORMOUS and there were a lot of people there. Probably because it was so cheap – you only paid for kids 3+ (and adults were free). So we paid a whopping $3.
They handed out s’mores supplies for the kids and had lots of mini campfires going around the area so they could roast the marshmallows on a fire of a smaller scale.
It got dark soon after we arrived, but we stayed for some of the storytelling near the main bonfire.
We saw some friends at the bonfire too, which was fun!
Our friends Keenan and Rebekeh and their girls, and Jesica with her little dude (her nickname for him :)
