Practicing for Baby

The sun is shining so brightly that it made me want to take some pictures of Eli this morning while he was playing in our house. Chicago winters can be very gray, so I'm thankful for today's bright blue sky (the downside is it's 18 degrees outside, wind chill: 5 degrees - BRR!! Winter clear skies often = chilly, chilly temps)
It's hard to tell in these first pictures, but Eli spent a good chunk of his time holding this baby doll. I got this for him a few months ago so we could talk about babies and get him excited about the one on the way. Granted, we're having a baby boy and this is a girl baby doll, but I don't think it's a big deal to an 18-month-old :)

I don't think Eli has any clue how much life is going to change in six weeks, but I'm glad he was being sweet with the doll! It's good practice.

Wouldn't it be interesting to know exactly how much they really understand or how what they are thinking when the new baby does arrive?! I would love to know :-)! I'm sure he'll be great!

Great pictures, Sarah! I've said it before and I'll say it again: You are such a talented photographer!

Now, as for Eli adjusting. In my experience, the younger the child, the easier the transition. A 20-month-old handles it all better than a 2 1/2 year-old. Eli seems like a mellow guy, too. I'm sure he'll do beautifully with the transition. The new guy's lucky to get Eli for a big brother!

Eli is overall pretty mellow, but he has a mean/jealous streak when other kids come near me. I'm not sure if he'll swat at the baby or not, but I'm curious to see what happens! Hopefully he'll adjust quickly.

Sarah, you are a great blog commenter. As I've been browsing all the family blogs, you've always posted before I did... makes me feel like we're having a little discussion of sorts... :)

Anyway, I'm glad you had one more bright sunny day out there in Chicago! Do you prefer sunny or snowy Christmases there?
