Fun Labor Day Weekend

It's been so nice having Ben home for the three-day weekend. Eli loves it when he lifts him up high.
Eli learned how to eat corn on the cob on Saturday.

But by the end, as has been typical over the last few weeks, he was in tears for no apparent reason. I really hope his molars finish coming through soon, because the constant off and on crying is hard!! (so far this morning, I think he has cried more than he was happy, poor guy)
By the way - I moved my ultrasound date to this Thursday, Sept. 4th! So put your votes in soon for whether you think the baby is a boy or girl (the poll is on the right top side of the blog).

Making Progress

First, some pictures of the little guy:

I am happy to say that the last few days have been pretty productive, with the exception of Wednesday, when I felt nauseous off and on all day long. I've unpacked a LOT of boxes - a chunk of them are shown below in our living room.

Last night my friend Jenn came over for a break-the-boxes-down party - then stayed to help me unpack some more things in the basement, which was a huge help. Sometimes you just need a nice friend there to help keep you going. Jenn's presence was enough motivation to move quickly and get things out of boxes.

I've had so much help from other friends too who have brought over meals and other things. Carrie and Sharon have both taken Eli for a few hours this week so I could get some unpacking done in peace. It's so much easier to unpack by myself than with the little guy climbing on me!

I promise future pictures of the house will be much prettier than what you see above... I think I have about 15 more boxes left to unpack; and I have already opened/unpacked about 80! Crazy that we have SO MUCH JUNK... I cannot imagine doing this if I were further along in the pregnancy. I am so thankful that I can bend down and carry things without much trouble.

Happy Boy Cheered Me Up

I woke up this morning in kind of a crummy mood. The garbage man woke up my child at 6:15 a.m. It was LOUD. Eli's room faces the building's courtyard, which connects to the alley where the garbage truck picks up the trash. Darn garbage truck.
But I'm in a better mood now because Eli has been so cute this morning. We did laundry last night and the basket was still out in the living room. He had a great time sitting in it.
I love capturing the moments when he's playing happily. It helps me get out of my silly bad mood. Besides waking up early, I was bummed because the couple we showed our condo to over the weekend expressed a lot of interest two days ago and sounded like they would make an offer, but yesterday decided on very different long-term plans and are no longer interested. The search continues for a buyer...
In the meantime, Eli's just happy cuddling with his sheep rug and throwing balls around the living room. I love him so much!

Ready for Spring

There's only so many things we can do in our little space. Eli and I are both going a little crazy as we spend the days doing the same things over and over:
Eli plays with the Leapfrog table (and walks away from it)
Eli pushes the push toys
He plays with the blocks inside (this is the best toy!)
throws the blocks
and likes to pick up scraps of cheerios off the floor

As exciting as this is... we're ready for spring. Too bad it's supposed to snow on Friday :)
