Trip to Utah

Sorry for the lack of posts last week! I just got back from a marathon trip to Utah. Going there is never a calm, relaxing vacation, but I always get to see lots of friends and family, which is great.

My friend Rachael's mom and sister were flying back to UT from Chicago, and her mom and nephew were on my flight. We weren't allowed to sit by each other since Hayden and Eli are both lap children, but we did come visit them throughout the flight:

I got to see my Diva friends from our college days, Kelly and Asialene:

I stayed with my friend from Chicago who moved to UT last year, Mariah, who has cute kids Jane and Wes:

I saw friends who used to live in Chicago for grad school, but now live in UT - Katie and Kerstin:
Here we are on the flight back - Eli was a bit of a terror both going to UT and coming home. I was sweating and exhausted by the time we finished both 3-hr flights! Here he is trying to figure out the seatbelt:
Here is all of my gear. I barely made it dragging all of this stuff around the airports!

*PS - there are more photos below from the trip

these kind of flights seem all too familiar. Flying with kids is never easy, especially if you're alone. I bet Jacob would hate it too. You're a trooper for carrying all that stuff too! Mom's always have a pretty strong upper body, by default :)

In defense of Eli - he was a great traveler. No one on the plane was bothered with him visiting with everyone in the aisle. It helps break the boredom of the ride to see that cute little face looking at you. I don't recall hearing him cry or scream even once, and I didn't smell any dirty diapers so it was a very successful trip.

I loved all the pictures you took of the two boys together. They are really cute. Sorry I sent Hayden so you couldn't visit with my mom the whole time or have her take Eli. But it sure made my day more pleasant.

Oh he cried on that flight!! The people sitting in my row were nice enough though and didn't make me feel too bad for my fussy child.

Cathy (Rachael's mom) was sweet and helped me get my stuff from SLC's baggage claim to the rental car line. I thought I was going to die though when I realized the Enterprise station in the parking garage was at the very end of the row - and I was dragging everything over there. Traveling with a kid is hard!

I recognize your friend Kelly in your Utah pictures. Her sister Katie was college roommates and high school friends with my sister-in-law Lindsey. What a small world! Anyway, I hope you had a fun trip to Utah. Sure sounded busy!

You are brave to lug all that gear around by yourself! I love that you had lunch with Katie and Kerstin at Cafe Rio, or as my family calls it, Cafe Rizzle! :)
