Understanding a Toddler

I was just reading last night about toddler's development in the latest Parents magazine, which said at 18 months old, kids tend to get frustrated easily because they want something but aren't always easily understood, which makes them pretty moody. Eli is a month away from the official time line, but I've noticed this week especially that he is either VERY happy when I understand what he wants or VERY upset when I don't.

When I do figure out what he's asking for, my favorite thing is that his face lights up, he claps his hands, and he says, "YEAH!!" with a big smile. It makes the frustration all worth it :)

Addie would always laugh when we figured her out :-). I think we'll probably be left trying to figure them out their whole lives though!

Isn't it scary when you see the flashes of the terrible twos? Sadie has started throwing herself face down on the floor and kicking. I'm like, child, you should not be doing this for AT LEAST three more months.

Those 17-month-old pictures below are SO cute. You have such a knack for photographing him! He just gets cuter every day ...

they joys of toddlerhood with their varying moods :)
I have to remember that this age won't last forever, and I need to relish them whether the mood is good or bad-sometimes this is hard to do!
